Governor’s Cup

Aug. 2 and 3

The Annual Governor’s Cup operated by the Montana Chamber of Commerce will take place on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 2 and 3 on the South Course. The field is full and consists of teams from throughout the region with nearly all major corporations doing business in Montana sponsoring a team for the scramble format. Tee times will be available on the North Course both days for member and guest play. Whitefish Lake Golf Club hosts the Governor’s Cup every other year.

Conquer the Long

Bunker Shot

That 40 yard shot to the green from a bunker can be a tough one to master. For the best results don’t use your sand wedge but choose your gap or pitching wedge instead. Your sand wedge will most likely come up well short for most players whereas the gap or pitching with a slightly open face will allow you to carry the ball further and add some spin to stop it quickly. You will want to hit the sand a few inches behind the ball and your focus should not be on the ball but on the location you wish to hit the sand.
