The Whitefish speech and debate team took third overall in Kalispell over the weekend.

The team was led by strong policy debate performances by Ian Caltabiano and Zach Ade, who earned second place, and Josie Johnson and Abby Lowry who finished seventh.

Seth Carmichael and Zoe Dugan also took sixth in public forum debate.

Columbia Falls and Loyola took first and second place in sweepstakes points.

“I see momentum building across the board as students settle into their events,” head coach Sara Mueller said. “I look forward to bringing a much larger team to Bozeman next week in our first and possibly only opportunity to see what the always-competitive east side of the state has to offer.”

Whitefish will be in Bozeman on Friday and Saturday for competition.

Individual results:

Policy Debate: 2. Ian Caltabiano and Zach Ade; 7. Josie Johnson and Abby Lowry

Public Forum Debate: 6. Seth Carmichael and Zoe Dugan
