The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for a Black Curtain theatre production of “The Shape of Things” on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 6 p.m. the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. The north door at the back of the O’Shaughnessy Center will open at 5:30 p.m. for those wanting to fill out an audition application early and review the audition selections.

Neil Labute’s “The Shape of Things” takes an unblinking stare into the gristle of modern relationships. The play tells the story of Evelyn, a sexy, aggressive artist, and Adam, a shy, insecure student, who become embroiled in an intense affair. Before long, Adam, under Evelyn’s steady influence, goes to unimaginable lengths to improve his appearance and character, against the advice of his best friends Phillip and Jenny whose own engagement is beginning to crumble. This “bitterly funny” and “dangerously seductive” play challenges our deeply entrenched ideas about art, manipulation, and love.

The cast will be composed of two men and two women, ages 18 to early 40s. No experience or preparation is necessary to audition. Pages from the script will be provided.

As a Black Curtain show, actors will remain on book during performances and there will be minimal costumes and set. There will be a total of nine rehearsals and one tech night on Jan. 26. There are two performances over one weekend on Jan. 27 and 28.
