Lady Bulldogs go 3-1 at Cut Bank Invite

The Lady Bulldogs were firing on all cylinders at the Cut Bank Invitational over the weekend, winning three of their four matches.

Whitefish beat Fergus, Troy and Cut Bank, but fell to Havre after a doubles match was forfeited.

Head coach Patrick Dryden said he was happy with both his team’s play and the weather.

“I thought it went well,” he said. “It’s been a really wet spring so anytime you can get two days of tennis in you’ve got to be thankful.”

Dryden noted the strong play of seniors Hannah Madsen, Paint Intasuk and Holly Hileman over the weekend, who collectively went 10-2.

“Those three girls were the highlight of the weekend,” he said.

Dryden also mentioned the play of some of his younger players, like freshmen Jess Grawunder and Aubrey Hanks, whose doubles victory put the team over the top for a win against Cut Bank.

“It was nice to get some younger kids into the lineup,” he said.

Whitefish has a full week of practice before getting back in action at the Libby Invitational on Saturday.

“We’re really hoping we get a week of good practice,” Dryden said. “We’re looking forward to a tournament format, because it’s really important to see how kids respond to delays, disappointment. You’ve got to be ready to bounce back on short notice, and that’s why last week’s format was good for us.”
